Diabetes Initiative
The Diabetes Atlas (D-ATLAS) is a unique online tool that
graphically maps prevalence of diabetes from zip code level data.
This web-based resource provides the user with on demand capacity
for comparing and contrasting the prevalence of type 2 diabetes
nationwide, by state, by congressional district, and by state
legislative district. For the first time, the D-ATLAS user will
have the ability to provide support for educational, advocacy,
and public affairs initiatives by demonstrating exactly in which
geographical area health disparities in Diabetes lie.
The D-ATLAS maps are available through a
password-protected link from the NMHMF web
site for advocacy groups, policymakers and
sponsoring organizations. The D-ATLAS will be
updated periodically as new data become
available.
Awareness enhancement events and training/educational
materials for the D-ATLAS have been developed that were
directed toward 8 targeted states throughout the Fall of 2006.
The D-ATLAS will be presented to a national audience in early 2007.
The D-ATLAS is brought to you by the collaboration between NMHMF,
Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company.
Licenses for access to the D-ATLAS will be available April 1, 2007.
